Model description

The Resource Mothers Program provides education and social support for at-risk pregnant teens, emphasizing the parent’s ability to affect the child’s development. Services are delivered through regular home visits by trained Resource Mothers, who are successful parents drawn from the local community. The Resource Mothers are intended to fulfill many roles, including teacher, role model, and facilitator. They also may provide transportation to mother and child health visits. The home visits begin during pregnancy and continue during the infant’s first year of life.
